Chindits World War 2 Burma
Christmas greetings card from South East India Command - Jungle signal mirror
Chindit Operation Thursday 1944 - A.Coy.2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment

chindit badge

[Below] Items that I carried during operation Thursday:- My Jungle signal mirror for aircraft supply drops. A sweets tin to remind us of home (which we all looked at every night) it also contained all my personal stuff. Lucky clovers from my sweetheart that were in the tin with the signal mirror also.
Every Night after long Marching and actions the phrase ‘Mary had a little lamb’ was ordered to be repeated through the radio over and over again for hours. I grew to detest the phrase by the end. No doubt the Japanese if listening, did too.

[Bottom] With comrades in arms, mates who never made it home.
